'Most hours are in exchange for accommodation and meals': Wild post from off grid couple seeking unpaid child care draws criticism online

It's perplexing how many people think that they've come up with something clever when all they've done is reinvent something that humans have known about for centuries and made illegal for a reason… You can't just go around asking to do unpaid work for free as if being in your mere presence should be enough to excuse the fact that you're not being fairly compensated. Yes, sometimes this is called an "unpaid internship," but there's another word that comes to mind for pretty much any other time this has happened in human history. Still, if the couple was seeking a "childcare intern" and rebranded their offer, it might not raise nearly as many eyebrows… But they'd definitely have to drop the whole "this is definitely how a cult is started" vibe that they're throwing off. Even outside of everything else going on here, can you imagine how terrible it would be to live in a camper (caravan) with two other adults, a dog, and a baby? That's not even a perk—that's torture.
